Monastic school

The tradition of the monastery as a centre of education and knowledge should be a guiding principle for the innovated monastic school with a focus on the natural and cultural heritage and overall healthy lifestyle. To accommodate this idea, the premises originally used in the 18th century as theological institute during novices’ preparatory stage before their entry into the monastic order will be adapted. One room within the monastic school will be set aside for children to experience a long-forgotten life centuries ago, ways and methods of teaching from the times of Camaldul monks. The “monastic school” will also offer participation in creative workshops for the whole family focused on manufacturing goods from medicinal herbs under the supervision of our “pharmacists” from the Cyprian’s manufactory. Since the monastery is a monument preserved and protected by the Monuments Board of the Slovak Republic, the restored monastic school will continue to serve also as a training centre for its own employees as well as for other civil servants, whose activities also affect the administration and protection of the Slovak Monument Fund.
